Thanks, Kelly. It’s one of my early digital-only doodles. Although I still prefer real oil paint and canvas, more and more I am incorporating digital art directly into my work. I have been very active in all things digital for quite a while. I think it was WIN 2.0 that introduced me to MS Paint, one of the first bare-boned graphics programs ever. I was hooked. If you visit the “Art” page at the top of my blog, you will see a bit more what I’ve been up to. “Maxine” is an example of traditional oil paint melded with digital painting using various digital programs and techniques.
Through the years, this “holiday greeting” picture expanded from flat, pure colors into digital brushwork overlays and who knows what else. I might also point out that I have been fascinated with the concept of (captive) potted plants since I was a tiny kid when Mom taught me how to germinate bean seeds inside egg shells, sprout avacodo seeds in a cup of water, and sweet potato vines from a chunk of potato. I have been a plant person ever since.
Love the picture. Watercolor? Done by you? Happy New Year!
