FRIDAY FOOD THING
From time to time my body speaks to me. “Tim, don’t fall out of this tree; Tim, get off the top step on the ladder; Tim, turn the razor blade box cutter AWAY from you; Tim, eat some salad. Now.”

"Tim, eat some salad. Now."
So, I have been directed to pursue a salad binge, one that I am enjoying: give me a decent tomato, some leafy bits of salad greens, a sweet onion, virgin olive oil, Pompeian red wine vinegar, sweet basil, fresh oregano, a crumbled hard-boiled egg, maybe some exotic cheese, and I’m good to go.
I can eat salads all day long.
As a matter of fact, I just finished a large bowl of something similar to the salad mentioned above. Okay, forget the exotic cheese. (I’m all out of exotic cheeses.) Forget those little greenie thingies placed just so. And, I ate my last hard-boiled egg yesterday.
Now, I’m going to enjoy a small bowl of Breyers Chocolate Crackle ice cream. Sometimes, the refrigerator speaks to me, too.
Reblogged this on calmyourbeans.
Yeah, sometimes, many times my refrigerator speaks to me, too. Sometimes I have to tell it SHUT UP!!

LOL… just arrived in Florida Sunday, and staying at my mother in law’s condo while she recuperates from a broken hip. Her refrigerator yelled at us.. CLEAN ME! She was in rehab for a month, and we found some interesting science experiments in there!
Like my husband, she’s a picky eater. The rest of the stuff in there was BORING. Went to Publix and fixed that problem! The fridge speaks to me soothingly now.
It’s been a crazy three days talking to all the powers that be about her care. I HATE HMOs, and her spineless money grubbing doctor who wants to preserve her bonus from the HMO. They think she’s too old to spend any more money on her. Things are starting to resolve now…
BTW… we started on this trip a la Tim… planned to leave at 9 am, made a couple of u turns, finally hit the road for real at 1 pm!!!
I am not a Florida doctor enthusiast, especially the ones who practice in and around areas for the elderly. I know that is a generalization, but I had nothing but bad experiences with both Mom and Dad’s doctor, who was chosen because of his proximity to the senior community they lived in. I’m glad Mom agreed to move. My sister and I both rest easier at night.
I hear you… we’ve got mom back to her condo, talking to her about moving up north with us. She wants independence, so there are a couple of GREAT senior citizen apartments with options to get help as needed within 15 minutes of us. Hoping to get her away from the HMO, and from her doc.
This doc nearly killed a friend of hers, prescribed two meds that the pharmacist raised an alarm about. They interact very badly with each other, and could have killed this other woman. Like your parents, this doc is close to where mother in law is living and that’s why she was chosen. Grrrrrrr.
Been butting heads with the doc and insurance since Monday, hope we’ve turned the corner now. OH… and this doc had her walker and wheelchair delivered to the rehab place… AFTER the doc discharged her from there. Duh…
She tripped on a frayed rug in a restaurant. Fortunately we have about five witnesses who gave statements saying the restaurant snatched that rug up while she was being loaded on the stretcher, and replaced it with a new rug and took a picture of that. Geez. I’m not really big on Florida right now, period!!!
I’ll shut up now….
Yeah, well, like everywhere else, there’s always a few bad eggs ruining the rest of the oranges in the apple barrel.
(?) !
There’s still a lot of things I like about Florida. A great place to visit.
LOL… yeah, I’m just having a sour mood because of the way the restaurant tried to cover up. BUT there were all those great people who helped her and are willing to go to court and testify for her if it comes to that! We’ve visited many a time, and enjoyed it. Mom in law is improving!
